Notes from some of my Customers

I have just now completed my Damascus blade and sheath under Bob’s instruction. The pictures and vids are on his Facebook page, and here…and I will say that the results are magnificent! He is a thorough and helpful instructor, and mixes the ‘how to’ with the ‘why’, and also tells you other methods done by other knife makers, so you get a very broad knowledge base.
This class was a retirement gift from my wife, and I am unable to fully express how happy and proud I am of the finished product! Seeing it come alive was very inspiring, and Bob was there supporting and encouraging every step.
If you are fortunate enough to get an opportunity to work with him….run, don’t walk to do so!

I recently purchased a knife called the Cobra from Bob Bryenton at Solar Storm Group Ltd.

I wish I were Shakespeare because words alone cannot capture the essence of this masterpiece. Nor can my photography do it justice, so I recommend you visit Bob’s website for more details.

I virtually met Bob while asking questions in a knife-making forum. He responded with incredible detail, and it was clear he knew his craft well.

Later, I visited his site and was amazed by the stunning designs. The knives were unlike anything I had imagined. When I asked Bob what he was currently working on, he mentioned “The Cobra.”

I received the knife a few weeks ago, and it is definitely not just a collector’s item—it is a formidable weapon. Made of Damascus steel, it features a one-piece handle with an impressive bolt on the butt end. It looks like something you’d wield in a battle against Orcs from Lord of the Rings, with the butt end capable of dealing serious damage.

Despite its fancy features, the knife maintains a humble aesthetic. Its finish gives it an aged appearance while being completely brand new. It’s hard to describe.

The weight is perfect. It feels incredibly solid in my hand without feeling heavy at all. It has the perfect feel.

Check out the pictures his website. While they look great, holding the knife in your hand is an entirely different experience.

Bob also provided a custom sheath, handmade with a pocket containing three sharpening stones and a flint for starting a fire if you find yourself in the wilderness without matches. Such a thoughtful touch. Very creative!

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine designs like Bob’s. If you are a knife enthusiast, you must check out his work.

Lastly, I must commend the exceptional service Bob provided. He is truly a professional who cares about his craft. He sent regular emails with pictures and often asked for my opinion throughout the process. When the knife was ready to ship, he tracked the shipment closely until it arrived at my house. Often, when Bob asked for my input, I’d ramble a bit before ultimately trusting his creativity. As you can see from his site, he has plenty of it.

I was so impressed by Bob’s work and the Cobra knife that I immediately asked to buy his next project. He’s calling it the CuMai’ Kopis. CuMai was a technique I had never heard of before, but after seeing Bob’s collection and doing some research, I discovered it’s an incredible and intricate method with a very small window for success. Despite this, Bob has mastered it and has me completely hooked. I can’t wait to embark on this journey again!

LIke i said, words cannot describe this piece until you get in into your hands. Also, price – i was extremely happy with his prices. Very reasonable for the quality you get. I haven’t used this in the wild yet, but i did give a few thick boxes a chop, not the Amazon boxes, im talking construction type boxes — and this thing tore threw like they were soft butter. I took a soft swing at them thinking i was Conan. It didn’t cut them … nor did it feel like i was hitting anything …. it sliced through without a sound or a studder, like soft butter. This is a serious piece of work. A very serious weapon.

I cannot express enough how amazed my other half and I are with the Engagement Sword that Bob crafted for us. It’s truly a work of art, exceeding all our expectations. 

From the intricate detailing to the flawless construction, every aspect of the sword is simply stunning.However, I must confess, in my excitement, I managed to accidentally nick my finger on the blade, resulting in a few unexpected stitches. But let me assure you, it was worth every stitch! It’s a testament to the impeccable quality and sharpness of Bob’s craftsmanship.

I want to personally thank Bob for his dedication, expertise, and patience throughout the entire process. He truly went above and beyond to make our dream a reality.

Amazing look and feel, with even a better utility.
Broke open a deers ribcage without a problem, hacked through the knuckle joints, and still skinned the deer after easily.
After a quick polish after all that it diced the meat for a grinder, and is ready to go for spring bear.
I absolutely love it, and it is nice to have a knife that one can have pride in.

Literally the best blacksmith I have ever dealt with. The experience of working with Bob at Solar Storm to consult with, design and see my blade and axe come to life was second to none. His professionalism, constant communication and commitment to perfection is refreshing and reassuring that you will get the best quality product. My knife in particular is the nicest knife I have ever held in my hand. Period. The level of artistry that Bob puts into his work is phenomenal. It’s not just looks either. Bob make real tools.
